National Stress Awareness Day
Every year, the first Wednesday in November marks National Stress Awareness Day - a timely reminder to pause and reflect on how stress affects our minds, bodies, and overall well-being.
Did you know? Chronic stress doesn’t just feel overwhelming - it can seriously impact your health. Research shows that long-term stress can impair cognitive function, weaken your immune system, and increase the risk of conditions like hypertension and heart disease. It can also affect your mood, relationships, and productivity.
National Stress Awareness Day is all about encouraging mindfulness, self-care, and proactive stress management. Whether it’s a deep breath, a walk in fresh air, or a moment of laughter, small actions can make a big difference. Stress Management is fundamental to optimum performance, both at work and at home!
Here are some ideas on how to tackle stress:
Talk to a Professional.
Contact our EAP provider, Uprise Health, for three free sessions per issue. Speaking with a counselor can help you navigate stress and build resilience.
Self-Assessment
Take a moment to reflect on your stress levels. Identify your stressors and create a plan to manage or eliminate them.
Try Stress Reduction Techniques
Explore techniques like deep breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, journaling, or even a creative hobby!
Healthy Lifestyle Choices
Support your body with nutritious food, regular exercise, and quality sleep. These habits are powerful tools in stress management.
Laugh a lot!
Laughter truly is medicine! It reduces stress hormones and boosts feel-good chemicals in your brain.
Remember, whenever you’re managing stress, seeking mental health support, juggling personal or family responsibilities, or simply need someone to talk to, the EAP is here to help. It’s part of our commitment to helping you RISE.
