LEAD Program

The LEAD (Leadership Exploration and Development) program serves to provide opportunities for development and growth in individual leadership. The program is led by HRD, a top management consulting firm. Leaders who are part of LEAD recognize the value and importance of the Rehab Industries mission to improve lives. All Managers will be required to participate in LEAD. Once graduating from LEAD and showing a desire to grow as a leader, these individuals can be nominated for LEAD 2. LEAD 2 will be a continuation of LEAD but a deeper dive into growing and developing as a leader.

 

Both programs are a mixture of in-person and virtual sessions with a total of 6 sessions each, meeting once monthly. LEAD incorporates the DiSC assessment, and sessions are built around the topics of feedback, conflict, change, accountability, and more. LEAD 2 incorporates a Leadership 360 assessment, and sessions are built around the topics of feedback, managing energy vs time, coaching, and more.

 

Each year, there will be a Capstone to celebrate those who attended and graduated LEAD and LEAD 2 programs. The Capstone will highlight certain skill sets those individuals learned in the program and will end with a celebration lunch or dinner.

There is a concept that was presented in LEAD 1 that changed my mindset as a leader.  The first one is the “Above the bar/Below the bar” concept. This concept taught me to stop and think about where my mindset is from hour to hour.  Did I somehow drop below the bar in the last hour?  Why did I drop below the bar, what happened to put me below the bar?  These thoughts help keep my mindset even keel.

LEAD was a great experience for me. Learning new leadership concepts as well as sharpening some that I already knew helped me become a better leader. Some of the themes bleed over into personal life and can improve aspects of that as well. Connecting with other leaders through the time spent in LEAD was also great. I feel like I have a better network between other leaders at Rehab Medical because of the class.

In LEAD 2  we spoke a lot about empowering our employees. I feel like this is so important in so many ways.
